I heart donuts

I don't know how we missed it [they opened in Feburary], but we just discovered Glam Doll Donuts this past weekend. Located in the Whittier neighborhood, on Eat Street [Nicollet Avenue between 14th and 29th Streets], Glam Doll has a retro, vintage, pinup girl vibe. They have some funky flavor combinations; I counted at least 3 different donuts that had bacon, and as much as I like bacon, I'm still not sold on the bacon-on-dessert trend. [Is it still a thing in restaurants? I thought it was passé.]

We opted for the more classic flavors, since it was our first visit. Clockwise from top left:
Cosmopolitan Girl - chocolate and peanut butter - cake donut
Pucker Up - lemon cream cheese - cruller
Glamdoll - this is a weekly special, we didn't ask what it was, exactly. It tasted minty, with sprinkles - cake donut
Calender Girl - salted caramel & chocolate - raised donut  [we got two of these]
Dark Angel - vanilla bean cream & chocolate icing - filled donut

The donuts aren't Doughnut Plant quality [well, sadly nothing is... I miss them...], their cake donuts are better than the yeast [or raised as they say here]. I think the cruller ended up being my favorite, shockingly enough. But it's a bright pink donut box! What's not to love. AND they're open till 1am on Thursday through Saturday. AND they serve Intelligentsia coffee. We'll be back for more, for sure.
