Best care package / housewarming gift ever!

When it rains, it pours! :) Just catching up on my blog posts, as I've been lagging behind...

A nondescript, unexpected box showed up on our front porch last week, with a label stating, "This box contains artisan cheese and it might smell". Made me laugh out loud, literally.  :o

The box contained three distinct farmstead cheese from Cowgirl Creamery in California:
Devil's Gulch, a bright, creamy, rich and smooth cheese, with hot-and-sweet red pepper flake encrusted rind.
Mt. Tam, a buttery, rich, soft, triple-cream cheese with an earthy hint of white mushrooms. [confession, I didn't really taste the mushrooms, but that's what the accompanying pamphlet said]
Wagon Wheel, a balanced, milk and nutty cheese with rich notes of brown butter and cream.

Jamie and I have had a lovely cheese course with dainty toasted baguette points before dinner for the past few nights. [I still don't get the cheese as dessert thing, I prefer my cheese as an app.]

We also got jars of kaya from Toast Box in Singapore. Jamie was mildly addicted to kaya for a while after our trip back from Singapore. :) For those unfamiliar, the easiest way to describe kaya is it's a coconut spread or jam. Typical ingredients include coconut milk, pandan juice/extract, eggs and sugar. It's commonly spread on thick slices of buttered toast for breakfast in Southeast Asia. Although I have known people who eat it by the spoonfuls straight out of the jar...
