Gracie is back on a higher dose of Phenobarbital, we doubled it back to 32.4 milligrams [half a grain] twice a day. So far so good. For her weight [approximately 60 pounds], this is still on the low end of a therapeutic dose. The most commonly recommended dose in dogs is 2 - 3 mg Pb per kilogram of body weight given every 12 hours. 60 lbs = 27.2 kg; for a 2 mg dose, 27.2 x 2 = 54.4 mg, which is significantly higher than what we're giving her. Hopefully this will keep the seizures at bay.
